1,000,000 Safe Man-Hours Milestone at DE170 Project
Achieving 1,000,000 Safe Man-Hours without any lost-time incidents is more than just a number—it reflects the safety-first mindset of everyone involved. We were honored to have the Group Director from Land Transport Authority (LTA) Singapore and Chye Joo Construction Management join us for this celebration. Their presence and words of encouragement uplifted the workforce, with the inspiring speech and presenting the Best Worker Awards to recognize outstanding contributions. At Chye Joo Construction, safety is at the heart of everything we do, guided by our CJC 3As Safety Values:

750,000 Safe Man-Hours at Tengah Service Reservoir Project
At Chye Joo Construction, we believe that safety is a collective effort, and every milestone deserves to be celebrated together with our workers. Recently, we celebrated the Tengah Service Reservoir project’s achievement of 750,000 Safe Man-Hours without incidents. As our WSHO shared: “Studies show that 80% of accidents are linked to human factors. That’s why we adopt a people-centric approach—creating a happy and supportive working environment where workers feel safe to communicate openly with management. We want them to understand that we are here not to catch you doing the wrong thing but to catch you doing the right things.” This celebration is a reminder that our team efforts are invaluable and inspire us all to aim even higher. This milestone would not have been possible without the dedication of the Tengah Service Reservoir Team. We thank them for their hard work and look forward to achieving even greater milestones together.

Bringing Innovation to PUB Safety Day with VR Safety Training
Chye Joo Construction was proud to take part in this year’s PUB Safety Day, where we led the construction safety games by showcasing our Virtual Reality (VR) safety training. Throughout the event, we guided 10 teams through interactive “Confined Space” and “Work at Height” simulations, transforming safety education into an engaging and immersive experience. This was an exciting opportunity to demonstrate how advanced technologies can simplify complex safety protocols and turn them into memorable lessons. Participants not only learned essential safety concepts but also enjoyed the hands-on approach we provided. Our efforts were further recognized when our Corporate WSH Manager received a token of appreciation from the PUB Director, acknowledging our efforts in driving safety awareness and culture. At Chye Joo Construction, we believe innovative tools can help create a safer construction environment, and we are excited to expand our use of advanced technologies to make safety training more engaging, effective, and protective for workers.

1 Million Safe Man-Hours Achieved at Lower Seletar Project
Achieving zero lost-time injuries on a construction site is no small feat, especially with so many workers and complex operations involved. We celebrated 1 Million Safe Man-Hours at our Lower Seletar project site, expressing our appreciation for every team member’s dedication to maintaining high safety standards. We believe that addressing even the smallest issues early helps prevent major incidents across all our projects. As our Deputy Project Director, Mr. Soo Hoo, shared with the team, “It’s never easy to reach 1 Million Safe Man-Hours. I want you all to stay safe and return home to your families. If you see any safety concerns, please stop the work and report them immediately.” This milestone, along with winning the WSH SHARP Award 2024, reflects our focus on safety and the dedication of every team member. When safety comes first, we can achieve great things together.

Outstanding Project Manager Award 2024
We’re proud to congratulate CHRISTOPHER VITUG, our Senior Commercial Engineering Manager, for receiving the Outstanding Project Manager Award 2024 (Innovator Category) at the Society of Project Managers’ 29th Annual Dinner. Last Friday, our Chye Joo Construction team had the pleasure of attending the ceremony to show our support and celebrate this special moment with Chris. It was a wonderful reminder of the dedication and effort he brings to his work every day, along with his extensive knowledge in design and construction, which makes a significant difference in our projects.

Tengah Service Reservoir and Pulau Punggol Barat Projects Honored with 2024 Construction Safety Awards by PUB
We are excited to share that our Tengah Service Reservoir Project and Sewerage Scheme to Serve Pulau Punggol Barat Contract 4 received Construction Safety Awards 2024 at today’s PUB Health and Safety Day 2024! Our Executive Director and Project Manager accepted the awards on behalf of our teams who have worked tirelessly to uphold the highest safety standards. As an active member of the Contractor Safety Watch Group, our Director also took part in the PUB Safety Pledge Session, reaffirming our unwavering commitment to workplace safety and health. We extend our sincere thanks to PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency, for recognizing our efforts, and to everyone at CJC for your dedication and hard work in making this achievement possible. Walking Towards Zero: PUB DCE Explores Our Safety Innovations
We had the honor of welcoming the Deputy Chief Executive, Operations of PUB to our Tengah Service Reservoir project site for a Safety Walk. Our Senior Project Manager provided an update to the DCEO, focusing on the safety measures and technologies we’ve implemented to keep our site safe. Following the briefing, we conducted a site walk, giving the PUB team an up-close look at our safety practices in action. In line with PUB’s slogan, “We Choose Zero!”, we are committed to creating safer and more efficient work environments. This visit gave us a great chance to demonstrate our strong dedication to safety, which is always our top priority at Chye Joo Construction. A big thank you to PUB for all their support!

From our operators to supervisors, engineers to the site management team, each person has played a crucial role, paying attention to detail to ensure a safe work environment. We owe heartfelt thanks to our esteemed client, PUB, and consultant, Meinhardt Group, and subcontractors for their unwavering support throughout this journey. Strong management support has been pivotal in driving every successful safety initiative forward. Our Project Manager Honored with SAFE AWARD 2024
A huge congratulations to our Project Manager, Li Yutian, for his outstanding dedication to workplace safety, recognized by MOH Holdings at the recent ceremony on June 11, 2024. Yutian was honored with the SAFE AWARD 2024 for his exemplary leadership on the Woodlands Health Campus External Works (WHCC4) Project. Under his guidance, the WHCC4 project was successfully completed in February 2024 without any safety infringements. We are grateful to MOHH for this recognition, and with leaders like Li Yutian, we are confident in our ability to drive our projects forward with an unwavering commitment to safety.

Celebrating 500,000 Safe Man-Hours at DE170 Project
Chye Joo Construction’s DE170 project team celebrated a remarkable achievement on: 500,000 safe man-hours as of 26th April 2024 since the project began. During the celebration, Executive Director Bryan Ng delivered a speech, acknowledging the significance of the milestone. He remarked, “While our work may become more challenging, I am confident that by looking out for one another, we can continue to accumulate safe man-hours.” The celebration also included gratitude towards stakeholders such as LTA, CJC management, the DE170 project team, subcontractors, and all contributors. The event featured safety animations, worker performances, and a ceremony for new workers transitioning to full-time roles, followed by a festive lunch.

Our Participation in the PUB Health and Safety Board Committee (HSBC) Walk
Chye Joo Construction is honored by the visit of the Chairman of the PUB Health and Safety Board Committee to our Punggol Barat Project site, providing us with the opportunity to showcase our safety initiatives. During the HSBC walk with PUB, we conducted site inspections for potential hazards and discussed safety measures to further enhance the project’s safety. The HSBC walk facilitated our Corporate WSH Manager in demonstrating the use of virtual reality (VR) training and augmented reality (AR) devices to empower our workers in real-time scenarios. With PUB’s support, we are confident in our ability to create safer and more efficient work environments. We Choose Zero!

250,000 Accident-Free Hour Work Celebration
We proudly announce 250,000 accident-free work hours as of 10th Sept 2023, since the initiation of the TSR Project on 17th April 2022. Congratulations to the entire TSR team for reaching this significant milestone. Our workers, have demonstrated a collective commitment to creating a hazard-free work environment, showcasing the values that make TSR project a safe workplace. Our success is attributed to fostering a safety culture, continuous training, sharing valuable lessons, and adopting positive reinforcement. CJC made a remarkable impact at the BizSAFE Convention 2023 on. We are proud to announce that we secured the WSH Tech Awards. Back to Work with Prosperity
After a joyful Chinese New Year break, the best way to kick off the Chinese New Year was by reconnecting with colleagues and embracing a fresh start! At Chye Joo Construction, we welcomed the Year of the Snake with a lively lion dance to bring good luck, a special visit from the God of Fortune, and, most importantly, the joy of gathering as one team. Over a sumptuous Chinese New Year lunch, we shared laughter and tossed for prosperity with a vibrant “Lohei” toss. As we step into the new year together, we look forward to building an even stronger and more vibrant team! Wishing our colleagues, clients, and partners a Happy Chinese New Year! We wrapped up the year with a fantastic Christmas Celebration! It was a wonderful opportunity for all of us to step away from our busy routines and enjoy a festive Christmas lunch together. A Memorable and Fun Bowling Night with DE170 Project Team
What better way to end a busy workweek than with a bit of friendly fun? Last Friday, our DE170 Project Team stepped away from the workday hustle to enjoy an evening of bonding, starting with delicious dinner and followed by an exciting bowling session. The night was filled with laughter and memorable moments. From wildly creative bowling styles to shared cheers over strikes, every turn on the lanes was a celebration of friendship. What truly stood out was how team members cheered each other on, celebrated every attempt, and shared helpful tips. The focus wasn’t on scores but on the joy of shared experiences and the mutual support that brought everyone closer together. A big thank-you to our DE170 team for the planning and coordination, and to everyone who participated and made the fun-filled event unforgettable. We’re already looking forward to our next team adventure.

Last weekend, the Chye Joo Construction team laced up our running shoes and hit the track for the event “POSB Run for Kids 2024”. Planting for a Greener Future: Our Tree Planting Effort at Concord Primary School
Chye Joo Construction partnered with LTA for Tree Planting Day at Concord Primary School to commemorate Children’s Day. We had the privilege of receiving the gracious support of MP and advisor to CCK GRC, Mr. Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim, which made the occasion even more memorable. Together with the school’s teachers and students, we planted 40 butter daisy plants along the footpath, creating a brighter and greener environment. The students eagerly participated, guided by their teachers, and developed a sense of pride and responsibility by nurturing the plants themselves. This hands-on activity not only fostered responsibility but also provided invaluable lessons in contributing to their school environment. By sponsoring and leading this initiative, CJC reaffirms its commitment to environmental sustainability and the well-being of the community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Concord Primary School for partnering with us on this meaningful project. From Aspirations to Achievement: Chye Joo Cares Turns Special Needs Trainees' Dreams into Bukit Timah Hill Success
Our recent hike up Bukit Timah Hill with the special needs trainees from TOUCH Ubi Hostel (TUH) was truly special. The real success of the day went beyond reaching the summit—it was about the new friendships we made and the lessons we shared. Watching the trainees achieve their hiking goal for the first time was incredibly moving. It reminded us how powerful perseverance and encouragement can be. With safety as our priority, our Workplace Safety and Health Officer made sure we were well-prepared with all the necessary equipment, including a first aid box, AED, and a trained first aider. The day also brought our Chye Joo team closer together. Hiking side by side, cheering each other on, and enjoying the beautiful surroundings strengthened our sense of teamwork and camaraderie. We’re proud of what we accomplished and thankful for the chance to make a real difference. A big thank you to TOUCH Community Services for letting us be part of this unforgettable experience.

Chye Joo Construction's Heartwarming Day with TOUCH Ubi Hostel
Our Chye Joo Construction team had the opportunity to volunteer at TUH, an Adult Disability Hostel where adults with mild intellectual disabilities live and learn together, building their life skills and independence. Through the introduction from the staff of TUH, we learned the do’s and don’ts of volunteering and got a glimpse into the lives of these amazing adults. It was all about understanding, respect, and seeing how we could help boost their confidence and unlock their potential. During the game session, our volunteers were right there, cheering on the TUH trainees and celebrating their achievements. We also brought along some special Chye Joo Construction goodie gifts for everyone. It was our little way of saying thank you and making everyone feel special and appreciated. We walked away with full hearts, feeling grateful for the chance to give back and make new friends.

DRAWING COMPETITON AT CONCORD PRIMARY SCHOOL
CJC collaborated with our client, LTA to host a Drawing Competition at Concord Primary School with a theme centered on “Improving connectivity in a town with new roads and flyovers.” This event was driven by our commitment to enhancing town connectivity within Choa Chu Kang community. This competition engaged pupils in Primary 1 to 3, fostering creativity and community involvement.
