We recognize that creating a strong WSH culture and fostering a safety mindset among all our stakeholders are essential elements for achieving the objective of zero accidents. In the spirit of ensuring continual improvement in, embodying, and promoting a safe work culture, CJC is transitioning from merely complying with WSH regulations as enacted by the authorities to developing best WSH practices.
Our focus is on caring, recognizing, and engaging for a safer workplace. We prioritize workers with simple yet impactful initiatives:
1. Helmets feature names for easy identification and personal connection.
2. Top management awards workers beyond standard compliance to recognise safety excellence.
3. CJC director and project director conduct frequent site walks to speak with workers on the ground and engage them for WSH and well-being issues.
WSH inspections led by our top management together with clients conducted routine site WSH inspection together with project manager of our client and the CJC site teams.
MWC has arranged well-being sessions for our workers. In 2023, CJC has renewed it’s continuous partnership with MWC for upcoming projects.
Our commitment to client partnerships extends to safety communities, facilitating robust engagement between contractors and clients. This is to create a platform where contractor partners’ top management can interact, provide feedback and suggestions on addressing safety-related concerns.
1. Kick off meetings are held with Sub-Contractors Project Management and CJC Project Management to nurture them into WSH compliances in our project sites.
2. A comprehensive introduction on individual project WSH requirements are briefed to the sub-contractors clearly prior their mobilization to the project.
3. WSH compliance framework and penalty systems for non-conformance are explained in detail to the Sub-contractors prior mobilization of their workers.
4. Sub-Contractors Project Management are informed that each task are to be carried out under close supervision and monitoring by the CJC.

At Chye Joo Construction, our Safety Captains who trained and empowered by top management play a crucial role in fostering a safety-first culture. The purposes of having safety captains are to:
1. Empowering and changing the mindsets of progress team towards safety
2. Shared responsibility should be taken by Site Staffs and Supervising team additionally besides the WSH Team
3. More eyes to intervene when there is a safety lapse on the ground
4. Work team should not turn a blind eye to safety lapses
5. We can achieve outstanding compliance when our progress team is as safety conscious as our WSH Team
